Mark Agostini

Mark Agostini is a Professor of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in epilepsy care, clinical research, and medical education. He has been affiliated with UT Southwestern since 1997 and serves as Medical Director of Parkland Memorial Hospital's Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and EEG Laboratory since 2014. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in Neurology and Epilepsy.

Dr. Agostini's research focuses on epilepsy treatment modalities, including neurostimulation therapies, EEG analysis, and seizure management outcomes. He leads studies on intracranial neurostimulators for drug-resistant epilepsy and evaluates clinical implications of EEG patterns. His work also addresses emergency department seizure presentations and bedside seizure testing protocols.

He has received prestigious teaching awards, including the A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Certificate and the University of Texas Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award. Dr. Agostini co-founded the U.T. Southwestern Neurology Core Clerkship in 2005 and pioneered the D2L online teaching platform for neurology students.

He maintains active roles in professional associations and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on epilepsy etiology, diagnostic techniques, and treatment efficacy.
