Kan Ding is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, joined in 2014. She serves as the Medical Director of the Epilepsy Clinic at Parkland Hospital & Health System. Her clinical expertise focuses on epilepsy and seizure disorders, including post-traumatic epilepsy, ICU EEG monitoring, and wearable devices for seizure detection. Her research investigates cognitive impairment treatments in epilepsy and traumatic brain injury (TBI), with a focus on cerebrovascular biomarkers and aerobic exercise interventions. She has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and secured continuous federal and local research funding over a decade.
Dr. Ding actively teaches medical students, residents, and fellows, and advises research in neurology. She received the Darryl K Royal Foundation Research Award and Texas Institute for Brain Injury and Repair Pilot Study Award in 2015. Her work spans clinical practice, research, and innovation in epilepsy and TBI management through the Ding Lab.
