Stephen Figueroa

Stephen Figueroa is an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He serves as medical director of the ICU at Zale Lipshy Pavilion and Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Completed medical training at St. Louis University School of Medicine with residency and fellowships at UT Southwestern.

Research focuses on neurocritical care innovations including therapeutic hypothermia protocols, brain oxygen monitoring for severe TBI, and telehealth stroke care systems. Current clinical trials investigate interventions for traumatic brain injury and stroke.

Publications cover neurological monitoring techniques, critical care protocols, and pupillometry applications. Recent articles examine quantitative pupillometry for internists, telehealth stroke pathways, and TBI assessment tools.

Awards include teaching excellence recognitions and peer review honors from Neurocritical Care journal.

Trains medical students, residents, and fellows in neurocritical care principles. Principal investigator for BOOST III trial investigating brain oxygen monitoring. Consults for NFL and NASCAR on head injury management.
