Deepa Sirsi, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She serves as Program Director of the Pediatric Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship and Director of the Pediatric Epilepsy Center at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Her career spans over 15 years with UT Southwestern since 2008.
Dr. Sirsi obtained her medical degree from Bangalore Medical College in India, followed by pediatrics residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She completed fellowships in pediatric neurology at Weill Cornell Medical Center and clinical neurophysiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center. She is board-certified in child neurology, clinical neurophysiology, and epilepsy by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Her research focuses on pediatric epilepsy, neonatal seizures, genetic epilepsy syndromes, and antiepileptic drug safety. Notable contributions include studies on CYFIP2 gene mutations, SCN2A mutations, and CLCN4-associated disorders. She has published extensively on EEG patterns in autism, treatment protocols for refractory seizures, and drug safety profiles in children.
Professional affiliations include leadership roles in neurology education and clinical epilepsy management. Her work emphasizes translating genetic discoveries into clinical care for children with complex neurological conditions.
