Marije Kuipers is a Researcher at Utrecht University's Department of Biomolecular Health Sciences within the College of Veterinary Medicine. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biomedical Sciences (both cum laude) from Leiden University and completed her PhD (2017-2021) focusing on extracellular vesicles (EVs) from Schistosoma mansoni and their role in immune modulation, supported by two major grants.
- Education:
- BSc in Biomedical Sciences (cum laude), Leiden University
- MSc in Biomedical Sciences (cum laude), Leiden University
Her research explores extracellular vesicles in parasitology and oncology, particularly their mechanisms of target cell binding and cargo delivery using proteomics-based approaches. She contributes to the MIMIC-KeY project under Dr. Esther Nolte-'t Hoen, focusing on tumor cell EVs and EV-mimics.
Marije has received significant recognition through grants including the LUMC Excellent Students Grant and the NWO Infection, Immunity & Tolerance Grant. Since 2020, she serves as social media manager for the Netherlands Society for Extracellular Vesicles (NLSEV).
