Marie-France Daniel is an Associate Professor at the University of Montreal, affiliated with the School of Kinesiology and Physical Activity Sciences and the Centre for Physical Education and Sports (CEPSUM). Her research focuses on applied ethics in kinésiologie and physical education, developmental processes of critical thinking among students and educators, and epistemological perspectives across different age groups. She has held significant grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada, including projects studying critical thinking in students aged 10–18 in Quebec, France, and Morocco (2013–2021) and modeling critical thinking processes in children aged 4–12 (2009–2011).
Dr. Daniel has supervised multiple PhD and Master’s theses, including studies on critical thinking among physical education teachers and kinésiologues. Her work bridges educational theory and practice, emphasizing ethical frameworks and cognitive development in health and physical activity disciplines. She collaborates with researchers like Nancy Bouchard and Mathieu Gagnon on interdisciplinary initiatives.
Her current research emphasizes fostering informed ethical choices in education and promoting critical thinking across diverse populations. She contributes to the CEPSUM lab, advancing knowledge in sports education and physical activity science.
