Marianne Falardeau is an Assistant Professor in Environmental Sciences at TELUQ University (University of Quebec), specializing in Arctic ecosystems and climate change impacts. Her research focuses on marine life, fisheries, and the interplay between environmental changes and Indigenous communities in Nunavik. She collaborates closely with Inuit Knowledge Holders, scientists, and policymakers to address sustainability and food security challenges.
Education: BSc (Biology) and MSc (Biology) from Université Laval; PhD (Natural Resource Sciences) from McGill University; Postdoctoral research at the Institute of Integrative Biology and Systems (IBIS), Université Laval.
Research interests include Arctic Char ecology, food web dynamics, and integrating Indigenous knowledge with scientific methodologies. Her work employs biological sampling, stable isotope analysis, and social science tools like interviews and workshops. Key projects involve adapting to climate change impacts on northern communities and fisheries management.
Motivated by interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement, Falardeau emphasizes the importance of Indigenous perspectives in environmental decision-making. Her findings aim to inform sustainable practices and policy responses to Arctic environmental shifts.
