Emilie Pinard is an Associate Professor at the McEwen School of Architecture, Laurentian University, specializing in Design Studio, Thesis, and Cultural Sustainability courses. She holds a Ph.D. in Architecture and Anthropology, M.Sc.Arch, and M.Arch from Université Laval, and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Her research focuses on people-environment relationships, child-friendly urban design for mid-sized cities, and culturally sustainable planning for Innu and Inuit communities. She co-leads the UNESCO Chair in Solidary and Sustainable School Design and directs knowledge-exchange projects with Inuit and Innu groups in Canada, as well as communities in Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.
Recent publications emphasize vernacular architecture adaptation in tropical climates, Indigenous habitat planning, and gender dynamics in urban Sub-Saharan Africa. She contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives like the Living in Northern Quebec research partnership and has developed visual tools for collaborative cultural knowledge centers in Nunavik.
