Marianne Falardeau is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Sciences at TÉLUQ University since September 2024, with dual affiliations as an associate researcher at the Institute of Integrative and Systems Biology (Laval University) and scientist at the Institut Nordique du Québec. Her work bridges polar marine ecology, community-based research, and science communication.
- PhD in Natural Resource Sciences (McGill University, 2020)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship at CHU de Québec-Université Laval Research Centre (2020-2024)
- Master’s and Bachelor’s in Biology (Université Laval)
Her research focuses on Arctic marine ecosystem dynamics, particularly studying Arctic char fisheries, aquatic ecosystem services, and climate change impacts through transdisciplinary frameworks that integrate Inuit Knowledge. She leads fieldwork across Nunavut, the St. Lawrence region, and Antarctic zones, emphasizing community resilience in environmental transitions. Her publications reveal evolving patterns in polar food webs and socio-ecological adaptation strategies, with growing emphasis on decolonizing research practices.

- Clean50 Emerging Leader Award (2018)
- L'Oréal-UNESCO Excellence Fellowship for Women in Science
- Weston Family Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship
Falardeau actively mentors through land-based science camps and virtual classrooms, having engaged over 20 schools across Canada. She co-developed ArcticNet’s Code of Conduct for Arctic Research (2023) and produces award-winning science films like Hivunikhavut - Our Future to communicate findings directly to partner communities. Her leadership extends to APECS Canada, where she advocates for inclusive polar science practices while managing projects like MARAT (Belmont Forum) and FISHES (Genome Canada).
