Professor Maria Tsouroufli is a transnational feminist academic specializing in social justice and gender inequalities in education and professions. She holds a PhD from the University of Southampton and currently serves as Professor of Education at Brunel University's College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences. Previously, she was Reader in Women and Gender at the University of Wolverhampton.

Her research focuses on intersectional identities, decolonial methodologies, and gender equality across education and healthcare systems. Key themes include educational policy, academic migration, and critiques of white mainstream feminism. She has led over 20 international research projects funded by organizations like the ESRC and British Council, addressing gender equity in India and Europe.
Professor Tsouroufli has advised numerous PhD students across institutions, focusing on topics like EDI in medical curricula and Black female leadership in education. She is founder of the Interculturality for Diversity research group and holds editorial roles in journals like Women's Studies International Forum and Athenas Journal of Health.
Grants & Projects include EU-funded initiatives to review the Beijing Platform for Action (2023) and a £220k British Council project advancing gender equality in Indian universities (2021–2023). She has also contributed to the design of Gender Equality Charter Marks for European schools.
Her global collaborations span Turkey, Italy, Hungary, and Pakistan, with invited lectures on topics like neo-liberalism in academia and gendered vulnerabilities in schools.
