Maria Chorozoglou is a Senior Research Fellow in Health Economics within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton and a Senior Research Advisor for the NIHR/RDS South Central. She has been affiliated with the University since 2008, holding dual roles at SHTAC and RDS SC. Her work focuses on methodological advancements in health technology assessment, particularly for pediatric and early-life interventions, NHS electronic data integration, and healthcare policy. Maria has extensive experience in economic evaluations using patient data from clinical trials and routinely collected NHS records. She supports clinical teams in incorporating health economics into research proposals funded by NIHR and Wellcome Trust.

- Research Interests: Health economics, methodological challenges in pediatric interventions, long-term economic implications of chronic diseases, and NHS data integration.
Her research spans over 40 years, including roles in the pharmaceutical industry and as a licensed consultant economist in Greece. She currently leads health economic components of studies addressing childhood appendicitis, sickle cell disease, and eczema treatments. Maria’s work emphasizes bridging economic theory and practical healthcare policy to enhance outcomes through scalable solutions.
Notable projects include the CONTRACT trial on pediatric appendicitis management and the TAPS-2 feasibility study for maternal SCD care. She also contributed to the EMPRESS trial on ICU mobilization and the BATHE study on childhood eczema treatments.
