Dr. Keith Cooper is a Principal Research Fellow at the Southampton Health Technology Assessments Centre (SHTAC), University of Southampton. He specializes in health economics, providing methodological expertise to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for cost-effectiveness analyses of health technologies. His work includes developing economic models for treatments across oncology, infectious diseases, and chronic conditions.
Education: PhD in Management from the University of Southampton (2005), focusing on healthcare simulation for coronary heart disease. He has been with SHTAC since 2005.
Research Interests: Health Technology Assessment, cost-effectiveness modeling, public health interventions, and clinical trial economics. Current projects include MODERNISED Enlighten (multi-cancer detection), the TRAIN bladder cancer trial, and the WRAPPED dietary impact study.
Teaching: Coordinates the Introduction to Health Economics Evaluation Course at SHTAC.
Grants & Contributions: Contributed to NIHR HTA-funded projects on behavioral interventions for STIs, weight management, and infection prevention. Leads SHTAC's Health Economics Modelling Group meetings.
Labs/Teams: Active in SHTAC and collaborates with multidisciplinary groups across the University's Health Sciences domain.
