Maria Bartolo is a Visiting Lecturer specializing in contemporary art theory and practice, holding part-time positions at the University of Westminster (MA Fashion, MA Art and Media Practice), Central Saint Martins (BA Fine Art), and The Slade School of Fine Art, UCL (BA Fine Art). She completed her MA in Contemporary Art Theory at Goldsmiths University and has contributed to academic symposia at Tate Britain and the Institute of Contemporary Arts.
Her research explores innovative intersections across:
- Conceptual art curation and exhibition design
- Audience-performer dynamics in gallery spaces
- Interdisciplinary relationships between contemporary art and music
- Art writing and critical theory
Notable projects include co-curating the internationally touring exhibition 'Buffet d’art' – featuring 47 artists across Berlin and London – and producing 'The Subway Sect' radio series on Resonance FM examining art-music connections with contributors like Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine) and Peter Saville (Factory Records). Her artwork resides in The Arts Council Collection and Mick Jagger Collection.
