Paul B. Davis is a Lecturer in Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, with fourteen years of higher education teaching experience. Previously, he served as a Visiting Tutor at the Royal College of Art and Visiting Lecturer at Ravensbourne College of Design.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in progress on "Turing-completeness as Medium" from Central St. Martins, Graduate Study in Studio Art & Technology from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a B.Mus. in Electronic & Computer Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
Davis pioneers the use of obsolete computer technologies, particularly Nintendo game systems, to create digital art interventions. His practice spans glitch aesthetics in video compression, hacked consumer electronics, and "Hi Tech Soca" music production. As co-founder of the BEIGE art collective with Cory Arcangel, his work has been exhibited internationally at major institutions including the Whitney Museum, Tate Modern, and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
His creative output demonstrates consistent innovation across performance ("Mr One Hundred"), audio production ("Calypso Fugitive"), and visual art ("Art in Here"), with particular focus on merging Caribbean musical traditions with electronic music production and exploring audience interaction through digital media.
Davis maintains an active exhibition schedule with work shown at the Whitney Museum of Modern Art, Whitechapel Gallery, HMKV, Witte de With Centre, Akademie der Kunste Berlin, New Museum of Contemporary Art, Tate Britain, and International Film Festival Rotterdam. Notably, he is recognized as the only DJ ever ejected from the Technics/DMC World DJ Championships.
As an educator and practitioner, he has conducted master classes and workshops globally at institutions including the British Film Institute, FACT, Malmo Art Academy, Slade School of Art, and Tate Modern. His music releases span labels such as Beige Records, Mixpak Records, and Wobblyhead Records, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach bridging visual art and electronic music.
