Dr. Marcel O'Gorman is a Professor of English and University Research Chair at the University of Waterloo, directing the Critical Media Lab (CML). He holds a PhD from the University of Florida, MA degrees from the Universities of Windsor and Ottawa, and a BA from the University of Windsor. His work bridges critical media studies, philosophy of technology, and digital art, emphasizing research-creation and ethical design.
Research focuses include technocultural ethics, environmental humanities, and queer theory. Notable books include Making Media Theory: Thinking Critically with Technology (2020), Necromedia (2015), and E-Crit (2005). Recent articles engage AI ethics, biodiversity apps, and design for responsible innovation.
