Dr. Elizabeth Dubois is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and University Research Chair in Politics, Communication and Technology at the University of Ottawa. She is a Faculty Associate at the Harvard Berkman Klein Center and held a Fellowship there (2022-2023). She leads the multidisciplinary Pol Comm Tech Lab and is affiliated with the Centre for Law, Technology and Society at the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on political uses of digital media, including media manipulation, citizen engagement, and AI ethics. She collaborates internationally with non-profits, tech companies, journalists, and academics.
Education: PhD in Communication Studies from the University of Oxford. She hosts the Wonks and War Rooms podcast and contributes to media outlets like Maclean's and The Globe and Mail. Her recent work includes leading the 2019 Digital Ecosystem Research Challenge analyzing Canada's federal election digital media landscape.
Research activities emphasize interdisciplinary approaches, combining political science, computer science, and communication studies. She advocates for ethical governance of technology through public discourse and policy engagement.
