Neil F. Randall is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Waterloo, Canada, and Executive Director of the Games Institute (GI). He chairs the Council for Responsible Innovation and Technology (CRIT), focusing on ethics in emerging technologies. His academic career spans over three decades, with roles including Director of the Centre for Professional Writing and leadership in interdisciplinary research initiatives like the SSHRC-funded IMMERSe network. His research bridges game studies, rhetoric, and digital media, emphasizing virtual worlds, interactive storytelling, and Tolkien's influence. He has authored technical books and over 500 articles for publications like PC Magazine. Awards include the SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship and A.M. Ross Prize.
