Shelley Hulan is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Waterloo. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Canadian literature and chairs the English Department. Her research focuses on nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Canadian writing, early queer Canadian literatures, and the rhetoric of food scarcity in late colonial writing across Canada and India. She also analyzes nostalgia in historical representations.

Research Interests: Her work explores intersections of colonial discourse, cultural memory, and identity in Canadian and transnational contexts. Recent projects examine the Anglosphere's influence on contemporary cultural narratives and the recovery of marginalized voices in early Canadian literature.
