Dr. Maggie Zgambo is a Lecturer and Course Coordinator for postgraduate paediatric nursing at Edith Cowan University's School of Nursing and Midwifery. She holds a PhD (2021) and has extensive clinical and academic experience, including roles as a nurse educator, clinical research nurse, and nurse manager. Her research focuses on child and family health, digital technology impacts, HIV/AIDS interventions, and migrant health. She has been awarded the ECU School of Nursing Research Medal (2022) and the Directors Award for Influential Impact (2024).
Education: BSc Nursing (University of Malawi, 2007), Master of Nursing (Central South University, China, 2013), PhD (Edith Cowan University, 2021).
Research interests include child health nursing, chronic conditions, health risks, digital safety for children, and migrant cultural health. She has led projects such as the 'Fostering age appropriate and safe use of digital technologies among migrant children' (2024-2025). She supervises multiple master’s and doctoral students in areas like neonatal care, fatherhood support, and HIV prevention interventions. She is an editorial board member for BMC Pediatrics and a Research Fellow at the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child.
Key awards include recognition for impactful research and engagement. Her 15+ peer-reviewed articles address HIV prevention, digital child safety, family-centered care, and nursing education challenges.
