Dr Wanjiku Gatonga is a Lecturer and First Year Coordinator at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Edith Cowan University (ECU). She holds a PhD (2022) and Master of Nursing (2016) from ECU, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Curtin University, 2011) and a Kenyan Registered Nurse Diploma (2007). Her clinical expertise spans surgical specialties (ENT/Urology/Maxillofacial/Plastics/Orthopaedics), Cardiology, Infection Prevention & Management, and clinical supervision.

- Sessional academic experience: 6 years at ECU
Research focuses on qualitative methods, narrative inquiry, and contemporary nursing challenges such as domestic violence and healthcare for refugees/migrants. She leads a 2024–2026 grant-funded project investigating syringe drivers in End-of-Life Care ($29,990).
Supervision: Currently co-supervising two Master of Nursing (Research) students, including a study on breast cancer patient distress in Western Australia.
