Mackenzie Alcorn is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Cumberland University, affiliated with The Millard and J.J. Oakley School of Humanities, Education, and the Arts. She holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Tennessee (2020) and a B.A. in Communications from the University of Alabama (2016). Her work focuses on police psychology, crisis intervention, and behavioral health, particularly within law enforcement and veteran communities.

Mackenzie’s expertise lies in police psychology, crisis intervention strategies, and behavioral health services for law enforcement personnel and veterans. She has developed a specialized curriculum for a psychology class focusing on introducing students to police psychology, reflecting her commitment to bridging academic theory with practical mental health applications in law enforcement contexts.
Labs/Teams:
She is part of the Behavioral Health Services unit within the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), where she provides therapy to officers and their families. Previously, she worked with veterans through a Nashville-based nonprofit and served on the Partners in Care Co-Response team, collaborating with police to offer crisis counseling in the community.
While her current role emphasizes teaching and clinical work, her contributions to curriculum development and community engagement highlight her dedication to advancing mental health support in law enforcement and crisis response settings.
