Joel Wade is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at Cumberland University's Millard and JJ Oakley School of Humanities, Education and the Arts. He is a 20-year law enforcement veteran with 19 years as a Special Agent Criminal Investigator at the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), where he specialized in digital forensics and communication intelligence.
- B.S. in Psychology from Tennessee Technological University (1999)
- M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (2002)
With expertise in digital forensics and cybercrime, Wade teaches courses in Digital Forensics, Mobile Forensics, and Introduction to Cyber Security. His work at TBI focused on reverse engineering smartphone applications, malware analysis, and digital evidence recovery.
He has developed curriculum and taught at multiple forensic training academies, including the National Forensics Academy and TBI Special Agent Academy, while contributing to law enforcement education through TN-ICAC Conference presentations.
At Cumberland University, Wade applies his extensive field experience to criminal justice education, bridging academic theory with real-world cybercrime investigation techniques. His career spans both operational law enforcement and academic instruction in digital forensics.
