Brandon Elkins serves as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Cumberland University and a Special Agent Criminal Investigator with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) since 2013. He leads TBI's Cold Case Homicide Initiative in Knoxville, TN, and previously served as Captain of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.

His research and professional focus centers on cold case homicide investigations, forensic methodologies, and advanced criminal investigation techniques. He has successfully identified five unidentified individuals from Tennessee cold cases dating back to the 1970s. Elkins is a certified instructor for critical law enforcement topics including Interview/Interrogation, Cold Case Homicide Investigation, and Crime Scene Analysis through the TBI Special Agent Academy.

He has instructed over 1,000 hours of specialized training programs and holds certifications from the National Forensics Academy and TBI Director’s Academy. Elkins actively contributes to the International Homicide Investigators Association and maintains a national certification in public management.
