M Cecilia Berin

M Cecilia Berin is the Bunning Professor of Food Allergy Research at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, holding the academic rank of Professor in Medicine (Allergy and Immunology). She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (2019-2024) and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board at Enterome (2023).

• Education: BS and MS in Biochemistry from Queen's University (1992, 1994), PhD in Immunology from McMaster University (1999), and postdoctoral training in mucosal immunology at UC San Diego (2001).

Dr. Berin's research focuses on the immune basis of food allergy and tolerance, with key interests in:

• Immune mechanisms of treatment response to novel therapies
• Non-IgE-mediated food allergies like FPIES
• Early-life susceptibility to allergic diseases
• T cell biology in food allergy pathogenesis
• Microbiome interactions with immune regulation

Her recent publications highlight advancements in high-dimensional immune profiling, T follicular helper cell phenotypes, stress-induced immune responses, and microbiome hubs in peanut allergy. She actively contributes to clinical guidelines and translational research in food allergy.
