Amy M. Scurlock

Amy M. Scurlock, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and a pediatric allergist/immunologist at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She is also a researcher at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute, where she investigates mucosal immune responses in pediatric allergic diseases.

Dr. Scurlock completed her medical degree in 1998 at UAMS, followed by pediatric residency and chief residency at UAMS/Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH), and an Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in 2004. She joined the UAMS faculty in August 2004 in the Division of Pediatric Allergy/Immunology.

Her clinical expertise includes food allergies, asthma, eczema, allergic rhinitis, drug allergies, hives, eosinophilic esophagitis, and primary immunodeficiency disorders. She is particularly interested in newborn screening and long-term follow-up for infants with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) and T-cell lymphopenia. Her research focuses on mucosal immune responses in models of food allergy and eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders, contributing to a deeper understanding of immune mechanisms in pediatric allergic conditions.

Dr. Scurlock is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI), the Society for Mucosal Immunology, the Society for Pediatric Research, the Clinical Immunology Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
