Lynn Tang is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at the University of Liverpool and a Visiting Senior Lecturer at the Service User Research Enterprise (SURE) within King's College London's School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences since 2022. Her prior roles include Assistant Professor positions at Lingnan University and the University of Hong Kong, along with research at the University of Birmingham's Centre of Excellence for Interdisciplinary Mental Health.
Her research explores:
- Mental health disparities and recovery frameworks
- Lived experiences of marginalized communities
- Suicidology and collective trauma
- Intersectionality in health inequalities
- Community development approaches
Her publications predominantly analyze mental health service accessibility for Chinese diaspora communities, utilizing qualitative methodologies to examine cultural barriers, recovery processes, and policy implications across 12+ works since 2017.
Awards:
- Shortlisted for the BSA Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness Book Prize (2017)
She contributes to SURE—a neurodivergent/survivor-led research group advancing patient involvement in mental health studies. Her current project investigates suicide and collective trauma in Hong Kong.
