Lynn Tang is a Lecturer in Health Studies at the Department of Health Studies, Royal Holloway, University of London. She holds additional roles including Visiting Senior Lecturer at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neurosciences; Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Liverpool; and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Lingnan University. Previously, she served as Assistant Professor at Lingnan University and the University of Hong Kong's Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention. She serves as Vice-President of the International Sociological Association's Research Committee 49 on Mental Health and Illness (2023–2027).
Her research focuses on mental health, health inequalities, and policies, particularly among minority ethnic communities and service users. Key interests include Chinese mental health service users' recovery journeys in the UK, suicide prevention in Hong Kong, and collective trauma during political crises. She has authored the book Recovery, Mental Health and Inequality (Routledge, 2017), shortlisted for the BSA Sociology of Health and Illness Book Prize.
Current projects include studies on suicide and political crisis in Hong Kong (funded by the Research Grants Council) and minority ethnic women's menopause experiences in collaboration with the Medical Research Council. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals addressing health and well-being, gender equality, and quality education.
