Lorenzo González Fontes serves as Director of Performance Programs and Core Associate Professor at Naropa University. His roles include faculty trustee and former department chair for BFA in Performance and MFA in Theater: Contemporary Performance programs. He holds an MFA from the University of Delaware and additional training from UNAM and Los Angeles City College.

His research focuses on contemplative practices in actor training, decolonizing theatre education, and performance studies. His upcoming work explores Fitzmaurice Voicework as a decolonizing agent. Notable performances include roles in Interview with a Mexican, Richard III, and Comedy of Errors.
His directing credits include Dead Man’s Cell Phone, Antigone, and Fuente Ovejuna (Big Easy Award-nominated). Awards include nominations for Big Easy Awards for both acting and directing work.
González has advised and collaborated across 20+ institutions including Stanford, USC, and Tulane. He leads Naropa’s Performance Programs emphasizing socially engaged theatre and integrates contemplative practices into training. Current projects include developing community-based performance initiatives and advancing decolonial pedagogical frameworks in actor education.
