Loren S. Cahill, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at the Smith College School for Social Work, where she teaches and conducts research rooted in intersectional methodologies and Black feminist epistemologies. Her work bridges critical psychology, social work, and cultural studies to examine how race and gender shape spatial and temporal experiences.
- Education: B.A. in Africana and Educational Studies from Wellesley College; M.S.W. from University of Michigan; Psy.M., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Critical Social Personality Environmental Psychology from City University of New York.
Cahill’s scholarship interrogates intersectionality, reproductive justice, and transformative movements. Her recent publications explore:
- Theory and practice of Black radical imagination in social work
- Temporal resistance through Black time travel narratives
- Decolonial approaches to social work education
- Embodied healing in Black girl cultural memory
Her research has appeared in journals such as Journal of Personality, CLA Journal, and WSQ: Women's Studies Quarterly, often employing biomythographic and speculative methodologies to reframe dominant paradigms in psychology and social work.
