Lora Izvorova

Lora Izvorova is a Research Fellow in Law at the LSE Law School, affiliated with the London School of Economics and Political Science. She holds a PhD in Public International Law from the University of Cambridge, supported by the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship from the Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust. Her research focuses on human dignity in Russia’s interpretations of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the challenges of ECHR internalization in Russia. She is a member of the ERC-funded Human Rights Nudge project, which applies insights from behavioral economics and psychology to study human rights compliance in Council of Europe Member States.

Research Interests:

Lora’s work bridges international law, human rights, and legal theory, with a focus on Russia and the ECHR. She explores how contested concepts like human dignity shape legal interpretations and compliance dynamics. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates behavioral economics and social science to analyze state behavior under human rights obligations.

Projects & Collaborations:

She contributes to the Human Rights Nudge project (led by Prof. Veronika Fikfak), examining mechanisms to improve state compliance with the ECHR. Previously, she organized key events in Cambridge, including the Public International Law Discussion Group and the Cambridge International Law Conference.
