Live Weider Ellefsen

Live Weider Ellefsen is a Professor at the University of Inland Norway within the Faculty of Teacher Education and Pedagogy, specifically the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies. Holding a PhD in Music Education from the Norwegian Academy of Music (2014), she leads the department's Research Group for Culture-Oriented Music Education since 2018 and co-leads the Nordic Network for Research in Music Education from 2022.

Her research investigates how music education constitutes arenas for subjectivization and discursive negotiation of knowledge, power, and gender, drawing on discourse analysis, curriculum theory, and cultural sociology. She is currently part of the four-year project NORHOP (2023–2026), analyzing the social functions of Norwegian hip hop, and previously contributed to a national study on musical upbringing in the welfare state.

Ellefsen teaches music didactics, scientific theory, and cultural communication at all academic levels while maintaining active roles as a pianist and choir conductor. Her work bridges critical pedagogy with cultural democratization efforts, emphasizing equity and inclusivity in educational systems.
