Veslemøy Ellefsen is an Associate Professor in educational theory and practice at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts' Academy of Dance. She holds a dual background as a dancer and ballet/dance teacher from the Norwegian Opera's ballet school (now part of the academy) and a pedagogical education from the University of Oslo. Since 1985, she has been affiliated with the academy, progressing from class teacher to line manager/director of studies for pedagogical education programs until 2013. Currently, she teaches pedagogy and subject didactics and supervises students in practical training.
