Lisa Thorson is a Professor in the Voice Department at Berklee College of Music, where she received the Distinguished Faculty Award. She holds a BFA in Musical Theater from Boston Conservatory and a Master's in Jazz Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory. Her expertise spans jazz vocal performance, music education, and pedagogical innovation.
Thorson has performed internationally for over 40 years, releasing six jazz recordings including Lisa Thorson Quartet Live and Resonance. She has taught at Berklee, New England Conservatory, Longy School of Music, and Wellesley College, emphasizing jazz vocal techniques and repertoire. Current projects include her jazz quintet, the Post 1960 Repertoire Project, and an upcoming ebook Without Words: Inspiration, Discovery, and Practice (2023).
