Lisa Strömbom is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Political Science at Lund University's Department of Political Science within the Faculty of Social Sciences. She specializes in Peace and Conflict Research with a focus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Strömbom is also affiliated with the Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) and MECW (The Middle East in the Contemporary World), where she conducts research on agonistic peace, conflict transformation, and recognition politics.
Her research interests center on agonistic peace, identity politics, conflict transformation, and recognition in intrastate conflicts, with a primary empirical focus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Strömbom's work explores how agonistic approaches to peace can address identity-based conflicts while maintaining political contestation. She has published extensively on divided cities, grassroots peacebuilding, dual narrative tourism, and the role of recognition in conflict resolution processes.
Strömbom's publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly output across multiple high-impact journals in political science and peace studies. Her recent work shows an increasing focus on experimental methodologies (particularly in Colombian peace process research) while maintaining her core expertise in Middle Eastern conflicts. The publications reveal a trajectory from theoretical work on agonistic peace toward more applied research on inclusion, reintegration, and practical peacebuilding mechanisms.

(2025-2027). Her research portfolio demonstrates substantial grant acquisition and collaborative work across multiple institutions.
Strömbom is actively involved in the research community through the Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies and MECW, contributing to projects examining divided cities, humanitarian aid to Palestinians, and Swedish civil society engagement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
