Karin Aggestam is a Professor of Political Science at Lund University, serving as Director of the Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) and Scientific Coordinator of the Middle East in the Contemporary World (MECW) strategic research area. She also holds adjunct and honorary professorships at Monash University and the University of Queensland. Her research focuses on diplomacy, peace and conflict studies, Middle East politics, feminist foreign policy, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She has authored 10 books and over 136 publications in journals like International Affairs and Hague Journal of Diplomacy.
Research Interests: Karin’s work bridges diplomacy, gender studies, and digital transformation in foreign policy. She co-edited Feminist Foreign Policy Analysis: A New Subfield (2024) and has pioneered studies on feminist digital diplomacy and Middle East security. Her recent projects include analyzing digital disruption in diplomacy and gendered approaches to conflict resolution.
Awards: Honorary Professor (University of Queensland), Excellent Teaching Practitioner (Lund University Teaching Academy), and former Samuel Pufendorf Professor.
