Pınar Dinç is an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and a researcher at the Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) at Lund University. She also serves as a Research Fellow at the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment, and Health. Her roles include leading the ECO-Syria project (2023–2026) and co-editing volumes like Authoritarian Neoliberalism and Resistance in Turkey (2022) and The Republic of Turkey and its Unresolved Issues (2025).
- PhD in Political Science from the London School of Economics (2017)
Her research focuses on the intersection of environmental peace and conflict studies, political ecology, and Kurdish/Turkish politics. Key areas include climate-conflict-migration linkages, ecological destruction in conflict zones, and memory studies. She contributes to the CMES Middle East Data Lab (CMES-MEDL) and has taught courses in Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, and Research Methods.
Recent publications emphasize the environmental dimensions of conflict in the Middle East, such as the Roots of destruction (2025) on ecocide in Palestine and Rojava, and Nature at War, Nature at Peace (2025) on ecological peacebuilding. Her work spans journal articles, book chapters, and reports, often addressing drought, migration, and environmental racism.

Projects include ECO-Syria, Wildfires in the Anthropocene, and SWEMENA, with funding from MECW and the Strategic Research Area program. She actively mentors graduate students and provides expert commentary to international media on Turkish and Kurdish politics.
