Lisa Moore is a Full Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and specializes in creative writing, Canadian literature, and literature of the Americas. Her research interests include fiction, creative non-fiction, art criticism, stage plays, and collaborative dramatic podcasts.
Her notable publications span novels, short story collections, and edited works such as Something for Everyone (2018), Flannery (2016), and Caught (2013). She has received prestigious awards including the Engel/Findley Award (2013) and the Critical Eye Award (2014). Currently, she hosts State of the Arts, a monthly interview series featuring faculty research at Memorial University.
Teaching responsibilities include courses like Introduction to Creative Writing and Advanced Creative Writing: Fiction at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She advises Master’s students writing creative theses and honours projects. Her creative projects explore Newfoundland’s cultural and economic landscapes, including a novel-in-progress addressing the oil economy’s impact on local communities.
Awards highlight her contributions to literature, including the Commonwealth Prize (2006) and Newfoundland and Labrador Artist of the Year (2006). She actively engages in literary festivals, panel discussions, and academic collaborations, furthering her role as a prominent voice in contemporary Canadian writing.
