Annabel Lyon is a Professor and Director at the School of Creative Writing, University of British Columbia. Her work spans fiction, nonfiction, and writing for children/young adults. She has published widely acclaimed novels such as The Golden Mean (2009) and Consent (2020), along with children's books like All Season Edie (2009). She has received major awards including the Rogers Writers Trust Fiction Prize and the Engel-Findley award.
Her research interests focus on historical narratives, contemporary fiction, and children's literature. Notable works include The Sweet Girl (2012), a companion to The Golden Mean, and Imagining Ancient Women (2012), based on her Henry Kreisel Memorial Lecture.
Awards highlight her contributions to Canadian literature: the Rogers Prize for The Golden Mean, and the Engel-Findley award recognizing her body of work. Her writing often explores themes of ethics, historical contexts, and human relationships.
