Dr. Lisa Crow is a Professor and Chair of Chemistry at the Division of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at Southern Nazarene University (SNU). She has been actively involved in teaching, mentoring, and research since joining SNU in 2007.
- Education: Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (2003) from the University of Oklahoma; B.A. in Chemistry and English (1998) from Greenville College.
Dr. Crow’s research focuses on organic chemistry, with emphasis on synthetic organic chemistry and visible light photocatalysis. She has secured grants such as the Oklahoma EPSCoR Faculty Research Opportunity Award and the SNU Faculty Scholarship Support Award to fund student research projects. Her interdisciplinary work bridges chemistry and medical education through mentorship of pre-health students.
Key scientific awards include the J. J. Zuckerman Award in Inorganic/Organometallic Chemistry and the English Department Senior Citation during her undergraduate studies. She also received the Snyder Science Scholarship at Greenville College.
Dr. Crow mentors aspiring scientists and medical professionals, serving on SNU’s Pre-Health Committee. She advocates for students to pursue NSF- and NIH-funded research experiences and acknowledges the Catalysts alumni organization for supporting student researchers. Outside academia, her hobbies include painting, writing poetry, and cooking South African curries.
