Liou Y. Sun is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on genetic control of aging, endocrine mechanisms, and nutritional interventions for age-related diseases. He holds an M.D. from Southeast University Medical School (China) and a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Systemic Physiology from Southern Illinois University.

Research interests include the somatotropic axis’s role in aging, dietary factors (calorie vs. methionine restriction), and interventions for diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. His lab actively explores longevity mechanisms and age-related pathologies. Dr. Sun accepts Master's and Ph.D. students interested in aging biology and endocrinology.
