Dr. Lindsey Moore is a Reader in English and Creative Writing at Lancaster University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). She specializes in post-1948 Arab literatures in the global Anglosphere, with a focus on gender, heritage, and postcolonial theory. Her research explores the intersection of creative expression with (post)national identities, including Islamist and 'Arab Spring' dynamics.
She leads the 'Storying Urban Palestine: Literary/Digital Maps' project, analyzing Palestinian literature's contribution to cultural heritage through data-mining place references in Nablus, Ramallah, and Haifa. Her recent co-authored book Global Literature and the Middle East (forthcoming 2024) examines 21st-century Arab literary globalizations. Moore has authored monographs such as Narrating Postcolonial Arab Nations (2018) and edited volumes like Islamism and Cultural Expression in the Arab World (2015).
Teaching includes courses on World Literature, Middle Eastern contemporary writing, and postcolonial theory. She currently serves as Departmental Research Director and supervises PhD students in Palestinian literature, migration narratives, and postcolonial Arab studies.
Her work engages transnational collaborations, including with An-Najah National University in Palestine, and revitalizes the Transcultural Writing research network. Research interests span Palestinian urban narratives, literary counter-mapping, and the politics of translation/reception in Arab-Anglosphere contexts.
