Associate Professor Lindsay Kelley is an academic and artist affiliated with the School of Art & Design at The Australian National University, where she serves as Head of Sculpture and Spatial Practice. Her work bridges art, feminism, and technoscience, focusing on how eating and digestion intersect with cultural and political processes. She holds a PhD in History of Consciousness from UC Santa Cruz, an MFA in Digital Art & New Media, and a BA from Brown University.
Her research explores the kitchen as a site of knowledge production and has resulted in two major publications: Bioart Kitchen: Art, Feminism and Technoscience (2016) and After Eating: Metabolizing the Arts (2023). She has received a prestigious Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (2019–2023).
Dr. Kelley has supervised numerous PhD and MFA students across topics including disability aesthetics, multispecies art, and climate-responsive installations. Her projects include Food as Design Material in Off-centre Extreme Environments and Tasting History: Biscuits, Culture, and National Identity.
