Christina Chau is a Lecturer in Internet Studies at Curtin University's School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry, part of the Faculty of Humanities. She holds a PhD in Art History and Media Studies from the University of Western Australia (UWA). Her roles include serving as Managing Editor of the Deleuze and Guattari Studies journal (2013-2023) and hosting the ABC TV series Shock Art, exploring controversial Australian artworks.
Her research focuses on contemporary art, kinetic sculpture, robotic art, and online visual culture. Notable works include her 2017 monograph Movement, Time Technology and Art, which examines temporal dynamics in art and technology. She frequently publishes in journals like Leonardo, M/C Journal, and Contemporaneity, addressing topics such as bioart, digital determinism, and posthumanist aesthetics.
Chau’s creative works include installations like BIRD SONG (2025) and critical essays on artists like Salote Tawale and Bruno Booth. Her scholarly writing bridges art history, media studies, and philosophy, with recent projects analyzing bioengineered art and regional art exhibitions.
