Lin Zhu is a Professor of Practice and Director of the Chinese Language Program at Tulane University's School of Liberal Arts. She specializes in Chinese pedagogy, second language acquisition, and technology-enhanced language learning. Her research focuses on writing in second language Chinese, computer-assisted learning, and language testing methodologies. Dr. Zhu holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Mississippi, an M.A. in Applied Second Language Acquisition from Carnegie Mellon University, and a B.A. in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from East China Normal University.
Her current projects include developing the Chinese Placement Test Program and authoring manuscripts on functional approaches to second language Chinese writing. She has extensive teaching experience in institutions like the University of Pittsburgh, Chatham University, and the Shanghai American School. Dr. Zhu is a certified Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) tester for Chinese and administers language proficiency assessments at various levels.
Previously, she directed a joint study abroad program at Shanghai University and contributed chapters to pedagogical studies on Chinese language teaching in North America. Her courses cover elementary to advanced Chinese language skills, contemporary Chinese issues, and specialized reading/writing modules.
