Dr. Liam Clegg is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of York. His research focuses on global governance, particularly the World Bank and IMF, and local governance including climate change leadership and policy performance. He has held visiting roles at American University and the American Political Science Association’s Centennial Center.
Dr. Clegg has received the Elsevier/Fulbright UK Young Researcher Award (2013) and a Graduate Student Paper Prize (2010). He supervises PhD candidates in areas such as climate finance, macroprudential policy, and multilateral development banks. His work is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and he has assessed grants for the Irish Research Council and others.
External roles include membership in the Academic Council on the United Nations System, consultancy with Oxford Analytica, and contributions to the House of Commons International Development Committee. He is co-investigator in the Yorkshire and Humber Policy Innovation Partnership (YPIP) and leads projects on World Bank accountability and local policy effectiveness.
