Dr. Leung Wing-Fai is a Lecturer in Contemporary Chinese Studies and Head of the Department of Asian Studies at University College Cork, Ireland. She holds a postdoctoral background from the University of St Gallen, Switzerland, and graduated from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Her research focuses on multimedia stardom in Hong Kong, discursive constructions of mixed heritage in Chinese internet spaces, and the cultural and creative industries. She conducted fieldwork on Taiwan's high-tech startup ecosystem under the Taiwan Fellowship (2014), investigating social networks, gender disparities, and capital dynamics within the sector.

Her research interests span East Asian film studies, socio-cultural aspects of technology sectors, and identity politics in digital spaces. Recent work examines gender disparities in tech entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems in Taiwan.
Awardees of the Taiwan Fellowship (2014), her fieldwork at Academia Sinica's Institute of Sociology focused on high-tech startup networks and their interplay with traditional industries. She has continued this research examining cultural capital, social relationships, and gender barriers within emerging tech sectors.
