Dr. Simona Alba Grano is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Sinology, University of Zurich, Switzerland. She serves as Director of the Taiwan Studies Project at UZH and holds affiliations with the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan (ERCCT) and SOAS. Her expertise spans Chinese Studies, Taiwan Studies, and political dynamics in East Asia. Grano teaches courses on China's political landscape and Taiwan's sociopolitical transformations, emphasizing cross-strait relations and environmental policy.
Her research focuses on state-society interactions, anti-nuclear movements, and authoritarian resilience in China. Key publications analyze Taiwan's civil society engagement with governments, Hong Kong's protest legacies, and China's global influence strategies.
