Simona Grano is a Senior Lecturer in Chinese Studies and Head of the Research Area China-Taiwan Relations at the University of Zurich's Department of Sinology (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences). She holds a PhD from Ca' Foscari University of Venice and completed postdoctoral research at National Cheng'chi University and Hong Kong University. Her credentials include a Habilitation (Privat Dozentin) from the University of Zurich.
Research Focus: Grano's interdisciplinary work examines Cross-Strait relations, environmental governance mechanisms in China/Taiwan, identity politics, and US-China strategic competition. She employs social science methodologies to analyze state-society dynamics, with fieldwork across Greater China.
Publication Trends: Her 15 most recent articles (2020-2025) focus on geopolitical tensions in the Taiwan Strait, Taiwan's international branding strategies, and environmental activism. Works consistently analyze policy implementation, diplomatic narratives, and civil society responses within authoritarian and democratic contexts.
