Leslie Rogers is an interdisciplinary artist and Professor at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) at Tufts University. Her practice combines puppetry, quilting, and collaborative storytelling to explore historical violence, social dynamics, and ecological legacies through a carnivalesque lens.
- Education: BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art; MFA in Sculpture & Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University
Research Interests span textile art, performance art, and interdisciplinary methodologies. She examines how everyday objects like quilts can act as technologies to decode colonialism, industrialism, and societal power structures. Her work often blurs boundaries between performer and object, using slapstick and horticulture to interrogate historical narratives.
Teaching at SMFA focuses on sculpture and graduate advising, emphasizing experimental approaches to art-making and material culture.
Scientific Awards include competitive residencies and a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship. These opportunities have supported projects at institutions like the Michigan Society of Fellows and Monson Arts.
