LaRissa Rogers is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor and Sculpture Area Head at the University of Virginia. Her multidisciplinary practice combines personal memory and history to explore the evolution of cultural identity and placemaking, interrogating themes such as survival, sovereignty, and freedom in the context of Black diasporas.

Her research emphasizes material-based interrogations of social-political dynamics, often using soil and site-specific installations as conduits for historical engagement. Current projects include Going to Ground, a public sculpture commission in Boston addressing colonial Black history.

Rogers has held residencies at the BEMIS Center for Contemporary Art (2022), Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2024), and Mass MoCA (2025), and is represented by Super Dakota. Her exhibitions include Documenta 15, Wattis Institute, and Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art.
